Children's Faith Formation

Sacred Heart Parish Children's Faith Formation program strives to compliment families and support the Christian values and attitudes fostered by parents. It is expected that families participate at Sunday Mass and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation on a regular basis, attend seasonal and liturgical celebrations, and service opportunities. Consistency between what the Church teaches and what is lived out in family life is fundamental if children are to understand that we, as disciples of Christ, live out our faith life each and every day.

Children's Faith Formation is held on Sundays from September through April from 10:50 am - 12:15 pm. Children in grades 1 - 8 receive formal instructions from dedicated and faithful volunteer catechists (instructors).  The program also includes opportunities for family sessions held in the auditorium which provide whole family catechesis enriching our families on chosen faith topics. Parents are also given the opportunity to fulfill their role as primary educators of the faith through lessons sent home to be covered as a family on scheduled HOME FIRE (Families In Religious Education) sessions which are scheduled on Sundays surrounding civil legal holidays.

We will begin a new faith formation year on Sunday, September 10, 2017 from 10:50 am - 12:15 pm with parents and students gathering in the Auditorium for a special time with prayer, meeting your child’s catechist, discovering what is in store for the upcoming year, and a potluck brunch! Families are asked to bring a covered dish enough to feed 5 - 8 people. Place settings and beverages will be provided.

Parents are asked to complete the Registration Forms  and bring them and the fee of $45 per child with you on September 10th. Please complete only one “Family Registration Form” per family; please complete an individual “Student Registration Form” for each child registering into the program. The annual fee of $45 (checks made payable to Sacred Heart Parish)  helps to defray the cost of supplies and textbooks.
