Adult Faith Formation

"Most adults are capable of a free and informed response of faith to God’s initiative of love. They ‘have a right and a duty to bring to maturity the seed of faith sown in them by God.’ The catechetical formation of adults is essential for the Church to carry out the commission given the apostles by Christ. This formation needs to be addressed to adults at different stages in the development of their faith. Adult catechesis promotes mature adult faith… by providing a 'comprehensive and systematic presentation and exploration of the core elements of Catholic faith and practice—a complete initiation into a Catholic way of life'” (NDC 187-8).

Adult Faith Formation sessions are offered at Sacred Heart Parish throughout the year. They are advertised through the parish bulletin, Pittsburgh Catholic and flyers. Faith Formation Courses offered through the Diocese of Pittsburgh are open to all catechists and any interested adults. Adults are encouraged to avail themselves to formation opportunities to enhance and nurture the family life in the faith.
